After reading this interesting post from Scobleizer I could not help to think, ‘what a ridiculous notion’. FOG = Fear of Google. In my opinion this is a nice way for competitors to categorize Google.
Google is in the position it is in because the ROI of the majority of the Advertisers who use Google are high. If they are not, they can easily walk away, and use another service.
So where does the fear come in? Google has always been one step ahead of Yahoo and Microsoft in providing its ad users with more info than its competitors, and some still try to have a negative twist on Google.
Other options exist, yet Google with all the FOG, still has the best ROI of your Ad dollar on the web. (People tend to forget Google earned its markets share fare and square.)
I think more attention should be paid to ROI, than FOG.
I am wondering if the govt will get involved against google?
I do not think so. Competition is clearly present, and others are not prevented from competing by any strech of anyone’s imagination.
User acceptance should not be (and do not think will be) confused for a monopoly.
